Tuesday, June 19VERNON -- A Massachusetts man was killed Sunday in a bicycling accident on Tyler Hill Road, according to police.
The man's name was not released by investigators, but they did say he was a 53-year-old male from Granby, Mass.
"We're still in the early stages of investigation," said Vernon Police Chief Kevin Turnley.
The man was biking with a group of other cyclists on Tyler Hill Road, close to Route 142, shortly after noon on Sunday. The section of road, according to Turnley, climbs a hill and winds around many corners.
A 911 call came from another cyclist, who found the man fallen.
As to whether a vehicle was involved in the accident, Turnley was not ready to say.
"It does not appear like it at the time. But, again, it is still under investigation," he said.
A Vernon police officer responded to the scene along with members of the Vernon Volunteer Fire Co. Rescue Inc. transported the man to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident, Turnley said.

I think it is not a hit in run. I think the man just had a heart attack or something like that. The cops have to investigate more on the scene of the accident to see what happened. I don’t think they will find out what happened. I don’t think there is enough evidence to say what had happened or no witness to say if the say what happened or to see if they saw who did it.
